Cyber Defense
Train cyber security officers to lead the safety and technological development of cyber defense
Introduction
In the modern battlefield, cyberspace has emerged as a new domain of warfare, along with the traditional domains of land, sea, air, and space. Cyber tactics aimed at disrupting enemy forces, stealing information, and paralyzing critical infrastructure have become a core component of contemporary military strategy. As a result, there is a growing need to train cybersecurity professionals capable of enhancing national security and supporting military operations.
The Department of Cyber Defense is a contract-based collaborative program jointly established by Sejong University and the Ministry of National Defense. It aims to foster globally minded, creative, and interdisciplinary talents who will lead the next generation of science and technology-based military forces and national cybersecurity. The Department’s mission is to train elite cyber officers equipped with foundational knowledge, specialized expertise, military strategic insight, and technical responsiveness essential for the 21st-century cyber battlefield.
To this end, the Department provides a comprehensive educational environment, ranging from cultivating leadership and a strong sense of national security, to offering a wide array of information security courses and hands-on training in cyber offense and defense, as well as battlefield-specific cyber analysis aligned with military needs.
Through its specialized curriculum, the Department is dedicated to training elite officers, technically proficient cybersecurity experts, and globally competent leaders. In the era of digital warfare, the Department seeks to strengthen national and military capabilities by nurturing top-tier cyber professionals who can proactively identify and effectively counter cyber warfare threats, supported by the University's advanced research and educational infrastructure.
